This is a wonderful workshop for both adults and kids over 10yrs \n\n\nThe Valere Talisman Project is a social object project that aims to encourage more connected\, inclusive communities\, through a sense of personal accountability.\nThis Rakino special is the first time participants will get to make your own talisman!\n\n\nWorkshoppers will choose a certain value you want to uphold within your own community.\n\n\nDuring the workshop you will make your own talisman using brass and silk. We will use letter stamps to hammer your chosen value onto brass\, then roll this into a tube and thread it through with an auspicious red cord for wearability.\n\n\nThe talisman acts as a reminder and visual signifier of your values as well as identifying you as an ambassador for the project\, joining others from around New Zealand and Australia who have been a part of the Valere Talisman Project.\n\n\n$20 pp\, materials included.\n\n\n2hr workshop\n\n\nAges 10 and up.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n

The event will follow the same format however\, so read on to whet your appetite!\n \nWalks Talks and Snorks – January 16\, Rakino Island \nWe’re so lucky to have some special guests coming to Rakino in January to give some talks\, take people on enlightening walks and also for a guided snorkel on January 16. Join Dr Tim Haggit marine biologist who can also provide insights from the marine survey he led recently around the island. Dr Tim Lovegrove the “bird whisperer” is also coming to share some amazing information about our landbirds and Kerry Lukies from The Northern New Zealand Seabird Trust can share what she knows about our invaluable seabird populations.
